‘Print Masterpieces’ 스페셜 에디션으로 만나는 거장들의 판화전

It is that time of the year that we express our gratitude exchanging greetings for the new year. 2GIL29 GALLERY will present PRINT MASTERPIECES as this coming 2019’s first exhibition from Jan.11 through Feb. 21. This exhibition will feature representative masters of Korea and world-renowned artists in the season of school vacation. In parallel to our direction to provide more public-friendly art space with the public and expand the base of art, the prints’ solid position in an art market has demonstrated as proven by a consecutive record-breaking auction results of printmaking sales in the Christie's and Sotheby’s for recent 10years. And it also manifests the fact that an extension of art genre boosted by an experimental spirit from a contemporary art has given rise to a change in a way to define an art which was just limited to an original painting.

In recent years, there has been a positive move indicating that a more accessible and developed collection culture spreads in Korea. A wide variety of editioned works with reasonable prices will be presented aimed at a genuine art lover wanting to appreciate an art in their lives out of the exhibition space without constraint. In order to respond the demand, there have been a growing numbers of channel and specialized places which have been more diversified in terms of distribution.

 This upcoming exhibition is expected to contribute to popularization of art and it will be a golden opportunity to purchase a series of limited edition by an outstanding artist at national and international level. The representative master of Korea, Kim Whanki(1913-1974), who grafts a western modernism onto a moon, a river, a mountain, and a cloud as a nature of Korea, Kim Tschangyeul(b.1929), who is dominant artist in the world earning a reputation of having an artistic value without losing a public appeal, Marc Chagall (1887-1985) who is a Russia born artist renowned as ‘Magician of Color, Lee  Daiwon(1921-2005), who expressed Korea’s lyricism in a lively techniqueand also used to be a dean of Hong-Ik university with a degree from Law school, Kim Jonghak (b.1937), known as ‘Seoraksan Mountain Artist’, Kim Wonsook (b.1953) who said that a life is a painting as she reflects her own life into her art work, Guillaume Corneille(1922-2010), who was one of key figures to form COBRA group inspired to a beginning of abstract expressionism standing at a forefront of a new wave in the art field, Armand Pierre Fernandez(1928-2005), who played a leading role in Nouveau realism after studying at Ecole du Louvre, and other world-famous artists will be represented so all visitors could have a premium editioned art work of them at reasonable price, by restraining their numbers of editions and putting a serial number onto them to enhance a value of collection.

따뜻한 마음이 오고가는 신년 인사의 시간이 돌아왔습니다. 이길이구 갤러리는 2GIL29 GALLERY는 2019년 첫전시로1월 11일부터 2월21일까지 Print Masterpieces 전시를 마련합니다. 이 전시는 학생들의 방학을 맞이하여 한국미술의 대표 거장들과 국제적 명성의 작가들로 구성된 전시입니다. 문화예술의 저변확대와 대중에게 친밀하게 다가가고자 하는 저희 갤러리의 의지와 함께 최근 10 년간의 크리스티나 소더비 등에서의 기록적인 판화 옥션 결과는 해외미술시장에서의 판화의 위치가 견고 해졌음을 증명 했듯이 이는 컨템포러리 아트의 실험정신이 가져온 장르의 확장이 단순히 오리지널 페인팅에 국한되어 있던 미술의 정의를 바꿔 놓았음을 보여줍니다.최근 국내에서도 대중적인 접근성이 높아진 선진국형 컬렉션 문화가 시작되고 있는 긍정적인 모습이 보입니다. 전시장에서의 제한된 경험을 벗어나 생활 속에서 적극적으로 예술을 향유하기를 원하는 진정한 일반 예술 애호가들을 위해서 합리적인 가격으로 만날 수 있는 많은 다양한 에디션 작품들을 전시합니다. 전시장이 아니더라도 다양한 유통경로가 개설이 되고 크고 작은 특화된 공간들이 생겨나게 된 계기도 이 때문이라고 생각합니다. 

이번 전시는 미술대중화 브랜드에 일조할 것으로 기대하며, 국내외 유명 작가가 참여한 한정판 에디션 작품을 구매할 수 있는 절호의기회 이기도 합니다. 참여작가로는 달, 강, 산, 구름 등 우리 자연의 모습에 서구 모더니즘을 접목한 한국을 대표하는거장 김환기(1913-1974), 예술성과 대중성으로 세계무대를 횡단하는 물방울 작가라 불리우는 김창열(b.1929) 작가, 러시아 태생의 색채의 마술사 마르크 샤갈(1887-1985), 자연을 모티브로 한국적인 서정성을 생동감 있는 표현기법을보여주는 법대출신이면서 홍익대 총장까지 역임한 이대원(1921-2005)과 설악산 화가 김종학(b.1937), 일상의 삶을 화폭에 담는 삶은 곧 그림이라 말하는 여류화가 김원숙(b.1953), 추상표현주의의 주요 이정표가 되며, 새로운 회화 운동의 선두에 섰던 아방가르드 그룹 코브라 그룹(COBRA)의 핵심인물 기욤 코르네유(1922-2010)와 에콜 드 르브르 에서 수학 한후 누보레알리즘(Nouveau realism)의 핵심적 인물이 되었던 아르망 피에르 페르낭데(1928-2005) 등 세계적 명성의 작가들의 프리미엄 에디션 원화를 합리적인 가격에 판매하며, 작품마다 한정 수량만 제작하고 고유 번호를 부여해 소장 가치를 높였습니다. 생활도 예술이 된다는 말의 의미를 되새기면서 일상 속에서 누구나 편하게 소장할 수있는 작품들로 꾸며 집니다. Print Masterpieces 전시에 여러분의 많은 관심과 성원 부탁드립니다.
