코오롱 문화예술 나눔공간 ‘스페이스K 서울’은 독일을 대표하는 현대미술작가 중 하나인 다니엘 리히터(Daniel Richter b.1962)의 개인전을 마련했습니다. 사회 운동과 음악에 관심을 가지며 20대를 보낸 그는 베를린 장벽이 무너진 후, 함부르크 예술대학에서 수학(1991-1995)하며 예술가의 길을 걷게 됩니다. 90년대에 추상적인 작품들을 주로 그리던 그는 2000년대에 들어서며 인물이 등장하는 구상화 작품으로 사회의 갈등이나 부조리의 단면들을 자신만의 시각으로 재현해 왔습니다. 이번 전시 ‘나의 미치광이웃’에서는 그의 형상 회화가 시작되는 2000년부터 형상과 추상을 넘나드는 최근까지의 작품 25점이 소개됩니다. 이번 전시는 지난 20여 년간 정치, 사회, 문화, 예술 전반에 예민하게 반응하며 자신만의 스타일을 구축해온 다니엘 리히터의 작품 세계를 조망해 볼 기회가 될 것입니다.
Kolon group’s art and culture sharing place ‘Space K Seoul’ presents a solo exhibition of Daniel Richter(b.1962), one of the most prominent artists representing contemporary art in Germany. Spending his 20s with a vast interest in social movements and music, Richter studied at the HFBK University of Fine Arts Hamburg(1991-1995) after the fall of the Berlin Wall, firmly establishing his career as an artist. His abstract painting in the 1990s transitioned to figurative paintings entering the new millennium, where various figures reflected the social conflicts and absurdities through his own perspective. The exhibition ‘My Lunatic Neighbar’ introduces 25 works, from the figurative paintings in the early 2000s to the most recent works transitioning between abstraction and figuration. This exhibition will provide an opportunity to look into Daniel Richter’s art world over the past 20 years, where his style developed by critically reacting to politics, society, culture, and art.
