나는 순수한 형태구조의 조화를 하나의 얻을 수 있는 지식으로 추구하는 일에 전념한다. 여기에서 나는 실재형에 구현된 미의 이상을 만나려는 인간의 끊임없는 시도로서의 예술적 전통을 이어가려 한다. 

모든 예술작품은 대별하여 세 가지 유형으로 나눌 수 있다. 그 것들은, (A) 순수인식에 각인되는 사물성의 구체적인 현상으로서 의 예술; (B) 실제적 그리고 상상적 감정과 행동으로 이루어진 모든 종류의 인생이야기를 함축/암시하거나 명시/서술하는 예술; 그리고 유형(C)는 (A)와 (B) 두 유형의 풍부한 혼합형으로 두 가지 서로 다른 창작지향성들이 하나의 작품에 동시에 공존하는 예술이다. 그러나, 다양한 종류의 발생학적, 목적론적 근거들에 관계없이, 한 예술작품의 궁극적인 중요성은 상당 부분 하나의 뛰어난 미학적 창작품으로서 그것이 달성하는 독특한 물리적 실체와 새로운 지식의 형성에 달려 있다.  

그림 안에서 나는 미지의 바다로 떠난다. 내가 만드는 하나하나의 그림은 무수한 낮과 밤과 바람과 비와 눈과 구름과 폭풍과 파도와 하늘과 땅과 섬과 별과 태양이 그 안에 공존하는 새로운 해양도이다. 

 

Deeply engaged in seeking the purity of formalistic consonance as an attainable knowledge, I am trying to carry on the tradition of art-making as an endless human attempt to encounter the aesthetic ideal embodied in the concrete real. 

All works of art can be classified into three types, which are, (A) a concrete phenomenon of objecthood that registers on the pure cognition; (B) connotation and denotation of all sorts of life narrative made of real as well as imagined emotions and actions; and (C) a fertile mixture of (A) and (B) where two different production ideals coexist simultaneously in one body of work. However, regardless of the varied etiological and teleological positions, the ultimate import of an artwork is in large part depending on the unique physicality it achieves as an excellent aesthetic creation and a new knowledge. 

In painting I sail out into the unknown seas. Each painting I make is a new oceanography where myriads of new days, nights, winds, rains, snows, clouds, storms, waves, skies, lands, islands, stars and suns cohabit.
