``Art Map,'' the first English-language map guide to museum and art exhibitions in Seoul, is now available.
The first edition of Art Map covers all on-going and up-coming exhibitions in March and April in Seoul's art districts. These art districts include Insa-dong, Sagan-dong, Gwanghwamun, Pyungchang-dong, Sinsa-dong, Yongsan, Cheongdam-dong, Seocho-dong and the Hongik University area.
For art lovers and tourists, the map is a helpful and easy-to-follow guide to all the interesting exhibits around Seoul. It also includes the phone numbers and addresses of several museums and galleries. There is also a short list of various cultural programs such as curator's talks, symposiums and film screenings offered by the National Museum of Korea, National Museum of Contemporary Art and the Doosan Gallery.
The map unfolds to reveal a poster on the other side. This month, it features a poster of the retrospective of French sculptor Antoine Bourdelle at the Seoul Museum of Art, which runs through June 8.
However, the Art Map is by no means a comprehensive guide. For instance, there are dozens of art galleries in Insa-dong, but only 13 are listed in the guide. If you're looking for a complete list of galleries check out the Seoul Art Guide magazine, which is mainly in Korean but has some information in English.
The Art Map is a project of the Kim Daljin Art Research and Consulting Institute and supported by the Seoul Foundation for the Arts & Culture.
The Art Map will be published every two months. Tourists and expatriates living in Seoul can pick up copies of the Art Map at the airport, hotels, hostels, embassies, guesthouses, cultural centers and tourist information centers.
The Korean language version of the Art Map is also available in schools, public offices and cultural centers.
