CHOI&CHOI Gallery first established themselves by their former name CHOI&LAGER Gallery in Cologne, Germany in 2012. Since founding the gallery, Directors Jinhee and Sunhee Choi have created an expansive network of artists and institutions - spanning from Korea to London, Paris, Berlin and Geneva - in line with their core mission to facilitate a greater cultural exchange between the regions.
Operating from a spacious two-storey building in Cologne’s Südstadt District, CHOI&CHOI have curated exhibitions and projects showcasing the works of a variety of artists, some of whom have been working closely with the gallery since the beginning of their practice. CHOI&CHOI opened their doors in Gangnam, Seoul in 2016, and have since moved to their current three-storey space in the heart of Jongno, Korea’s longest-standing arts district.
CHOI&CHOI Gallery have been steadily promoting Korean contemporary art by cultivating relationships and projects with Korean artists since before the gallery’s inception. Through exhibitions and art fairs, they continue to introduce the vibrant landscape of both local and diasporic Korean Contemporary Art to the international audience.
After her studies in German Language and Literature in Korea, Jinhee Choi graduated with a diploma in Graphic Design at the University of Düsseldorf, and studied sculpture and painting at Alanus Werkhaus. With her extensive, practical expertise in art and design, she actively manages the gallery's programme and presentation. Jinhee is based in Cologne, Germany and continues to collaborate with her network of German-based artists and curators. She oversees the gallery’s operation on site.
