전시 《가족의 세계: 가족관계증명의 기술》의 첫 번째 질문은 '한 가족의 구성원들이 정치적 성향, 사회적 위치, 문화적 배경 등 삶을 움직이는 조건이 서로 다를 때 어떻게 차이에 따른 갈등을 극복하고, 유대관계를 지속하는가?'입니다. 전시에 참여하는 문지영, 박가인, 정두희는 장애인 가족의 삶을 살아온 모녀와 자매, 진보 대 보수의 이념차로 대립하는 부녀, 삼시세끼 한 식탁에 함께 앉은 다문화부부 등 가족의 일상을 비추어냅니다. 이는 가족문화에 대한 단편적 드라마로 보일 수 있지만, 또 다른 가족의 상황과 보편적 사회현상을 반추하게 하는 현실 속 주인공들의 이야기입니다. 전시는 개인이 공공기관에서 발급 받는 가족관계증명서 없이 스스로 가족관계를 증명할 수 있는, 나아가 가족의 다양한 표정을 드러내는 작가 고유의 접근과 방법을 살펴봅니다.

가족에 대한 기억을 담은 예술은 지하의 표백된 전시공간에 ‘집’의 형색을 드리우고, 각자의 가족들이 서 있는 위치와 향하고자 하는 방향을 가늠하게 합니다. 코로나19 팬대믹의 지금, '사회적 거리두기'를 실천하는 우리의 시간은 집이나 그 외 격리공간에 멈춰 있지만, 이번 전시가 시민들의 지친 마음을 위로하고, '가족'의 진실과 마주하는 경험으로 나아가는 동력이 되기를 기대합니다.

The exhibition 'Other Families: The Art of Proving Family Relationships' raises the following question; how do family members overcome conflicts and maintain relationships when each condition for driving life is different, such as political inclination, social position, and cultural background? The participating artists illuminate their families, such as mother and sister with a disability(Moon Jiyoung), as father and daughter supporting different political parties(Bahc Gaain), and as a multicultural married couple on three square meals(Chung Doohee). Their narratives are not only fiction but reality reflecting with the other families' lives and universal phenomena in society. The exhibition pays close attention to the artists' attitude and method proving family relationships on their own without the help of public office, and further exploring the various visuals of their families. 

Art with the memories of the family makes the bleached gallery be featured a 'house.' The exhibition explores what family members share and what they want to do for their lives. At present of the Corona 19 pandemic, we practice the physical distancing at isolated spaces like home. We hope the exhibition will be able to propose some experience of facing behind our families, also to bring some comfort to people in these difficult times.
