프람프트 프로젝트는 2023년 9월 1일부터 9월 30일까지 윤종주 작가의 <Promenade> 전시가 진행된다. 자연의 색, 시간의 색이라는 명명아래 작가의 감성이 무수한 색면으로 쌓여, 그라데이션된 색 면의 작품들이 벽면을 가득 채운다. 작품에서 보여지는 컬러 스펙트럼은 작가의 일상 속 사색에 대한 관철의 색이자,  시간을 시각적으로 표현한 겹인 것이다. 이번 전시에서 선보이는 ‘Cherish The Time’ 시리즈에서는 대지와 자연으로부터 영감을 받아 ‘promenade’ 라는 소주제로 이루어진다.

한 가지 색상으로 정의할 수 없는 색면에서 보이는 인상들 , 이를테면 한 화면에서 아련한 공기와 습도를  머금은 대기와 비슷하고도 미묘한 차이를 가진 붉은 토지에 대한 인상이 함께 느껴지는 경험은 보는 이로 하여금 무수한 색으로 치환한 작가의 언어이자 이야기를 전한다. 이러한 색의 공간으로 가득한 전시장을 거닐면 마치 자연의 본태에서 산책을 하는 듯하다. 우리는 작가의 작품 사이로 산책을 하며 거친 파도가 방파제를 뚫고 나오는 해안가가 눈앞에 펼쳐졌다. 금세 철분이 가득한 토양을 매만질 때의 촉감과 공기가 느껴지는 부호화된 색면의 이야기를 읽어나간다.

Prompt Project presents a solo exhibition <Promenade> by artist Youn Jongju from September 1st to 30th, 2023. Under the name color of nature and time, the artist’s impression is cumulated in numerous layers of color fields and a wall is filled with works of gradational color surfaces. The color spectrum shown in the works is an observation of everyday life colors and a layered graphic expression of time. Cherish The Time series shown in this exhibition comes from the earth and nature and from a sub-subject ‘promenade.’

 

The experience of viewing impressions from the color field which cannot be identified as one color, such as seeing both the sun on a cloudy day and red earth in one frame, makes the viewer hear the artist’s language and story which is substituted with countless colors. One walks through this color space as if on a promenade through nature’s essence. As we stroll along the artist’s works, we can read the stories encoded in the color fields from facing the seashore where a rough wave breaks through the seawall to immediately feeling the air of touching earth filled with iron.

윤종주 작가의 작품은 색으로부터 말 할 수 있다. 작가는 캔버스 위에 액상의 물감을 부어 재료의 유동성을 활용하여 작가만의 깊이 있는 표면을 만들어 낸다. 캔버스에 색면의 레이어가 쌓이면서 미묘하게 빛깔이 달라지고 깊이가 생긴다. 작가의 반복적인 행위는 작품에서 시간성을 보여준다. 색면의 레이어가 쌓이고 모서리의 물감을 닦아내며 경계가 생긴다. 최근 작업에서 그라데이션과 수많은 층위의 색들을 통해 빛과 선, 공간을 더하였고 한층 더 깊이 있는 색면을 보여주고 있다. 한단어로 명명하기 어려운 색면은 작가가 쌓은 레이어들의 시간을 고스란히 담아내고 있다.

Artist Youn Jongju’s works consist of color fields. The artist pours aquarelle on the canvas and utilizes the liquidity of the material to create her unique deep surface. As color plates are layered, the color changes slightly and depth is created. The artist’s repetitive action shows timeliness in the work. As the colors are layered and paints in the corners are wiped off, boundaries are formed. In recent works she has added light and line through gradation and numerous levels of colors for an even deeper color field. The deepened color field itself is filled with layers of time the artist has spent.

Prompt Project는 전시 공간이자 차세대 감각을 다루는 창작 인큐베이팅 플랫폼으로서 동시대 아티스트의 작업을 신선 한 큐레이팅과 연출로 관객들에게 영감과 신선한 자극을 선사하고자 설립되었다. 공간명 프람프트 프로젝트에서 프람프 트(Prompt)는 라틴어 'Promp- tus'의 어원에서 출발하여 감추어져 있던 것들을 빛으로 이끌어 세상에 드러내다(brought to light)라는 취지로 향후 지속적으로 예술에 대한 가치와 이를 다루는 창작가들을 모색하고자 하는 태도를 함의한다.

프람프트 프로젝트의 약칭 PPP는 앞으로 참신한 관점으로 동시대 역량 있는 아티스트를 발굴하고 작가의 창작 코드와 창작물이 간직한 컨텍스트를 새로운 시각으로 조명하고자 한다. 뿐만 아니라 작가의 작업 방식과 작품이 지닌 의미를 새로운 스펙트럼으로 바라보며 작가와 갤러리 관람자가 유기적인 관계를 통해 새로운 가능성과 가치를 발견할 수 있는 장으로서 자리매김하고자 한다.

Prompt Project was established to be an exhibition space as well as a creative incubating platform which reflects next- generation senses to inspire and freshly stimulate the viewers with novel curating and presentation of contemporary artists’ works. The word ‘prompt’ of Prompt Project originates from the Latin word ‘promptus’ and means brought to light things that were hidden in the world. The name of our space entails our intent to continuously seek the value of art and creators who engage with art.

PpP, the abbreviation of Prompt Project, intends to discover talented artists from a fresh perspective and shed new light on the creative code and context of the artist's creations. Moreover, by looking at the artist's work method and the meaning of the work from a new spectrum, the gallery seeks to establish itself as a space where artists and gallery viewers can uncover new possibilities and value through an organic relationship.
