일기를 쓰듯, 작가의 소탈한 일상과 아름다운 자연 풍경을 천(cotton)에 자수로 표현하고 그리는 강진이의 개인전입니다. 아카시아 향 가득한 계절에 ‘행복이 이렇게 사소해도 되는가’ 작품전을 통해 그림에 묘사된 상황에 직접 참여해 보시고, 숨어 있는 평범한 순간의 기쁨을 즐겨 보시기 바랍니다.

이번 마리나 갤러리에서의 전시 제목이다. 작년에 출간된 책 제목이기도 한 ‘행복이 이렇게 사소해도 되는가’는 편집자의 제안이었다. 내가 지금껏 그려왔던 이야기들을 하나의 문장으로 설명한다면, 오은 시인의 시구이기도 한 이 문장이 될 것 같다고 말이다. 나는 언제나 일상의 소소한 기쁨과 즐거움을 그려왔다. 내 삶이 전부 행복만으로 채워져 있는 건 아니지만, 그림을 그릴 때마다 나는 언제나 내 기억 속 행복한 시간들을 그려갔다. 그러면 새삼 내가 얼마나 행복한 사람인지, 붙잡고 싶은 행복들이 얼마나 자주 내 곁을 찾아왔는지 깨닫곤 했다. 이 자리를 빌려 귀한 시구를 책 제목으로, 또 전시 제목으로도 쓸 수 있게 흔쾌히 허락해 주신 오은 시인에게 깊은 감사를 드린다. 

 

이 전시는 책에 있는 작품 외에 그 이후의 신작들을 소개하는 자리이다. 나는 나를 수놓은 삶의 작은 순간을 붙잡아 그림을 그리고 수놓았다. 내가 만났던 잔잔한 기쁨과 행복이 관람객들의 삶에도 잘 가 닿기를, 어딘가에서 발견되기를 기다리고 있을 당신의 앨범도 함께 펼쳐보며, 행복이 이렇게 가까이 있음을 온 마음으로 느낄 수 있기를, 이것이 지금 나의 유일한 바램이다. 

전시를 마련해주신 마리나갤러리 함윤희 대표에게도 깊은 감사를 드린다.

This is news about Marina Gallery’s June exhibition. This is a personal exhibition by Kang Jin-e, who expresses and draws the artist's simple daily life and beautiful natural scenery through embroidery on cotton, as if writing a diary. In a season filled with the scent of acacia, we invite you to participate directly in the situations depicted in her paintings through the exhibition of her work, ‘What a happiness in this trivial! and enjoy the hidden joy of ordinary moments.

This is the title of this exhibition at Marina Gallery. ‘Can happiness be this trivial?’, which was also the title of a book published last year, was the editor’s suggestion. If I were to explain the stories I have drawn so far in one sentence, I think it would be this sentence, which is also a poem by poet Oh Eun. I have always depicted the small joys and pleasures of everyday life. My life is not entirely filled with happiness, but whenever I draw, I always draw happy times from my memories. Then, I realized how happy I was and how often the happiness I wanted to hold on to came to me. I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to poet Oh Eun, who graciously allowed me to use his precious poem as the title of a book and exhibition. 

This exhibition introduces new works in addition to the works in the book.

I captured the small moments in life that embroidered me, drew and embroidered them. This is my only hope right now: that the calm joy and happiness I encountered will reach the lives of visitors, and that they will be able to open your album, which is waiting to be discovered somewhere, and feel with all their heart that happiness is so close. 

I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to Marina Gallery Representative Yunhee Ham for organizing the exhibition.
